Description

Summary

Under the direction of the Manufacturing Supervisor, the Manufacturing Technician I assemble standard electronic cable, connectors and connector components together to create cable assemblies according to customer specifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Read, understands, follows, and applies knowledge to customer jobs according to Production Work Instructions.
  • Reads, understands instructions such as work orders, diagrams, POP Tickets, prints and other specifications to determine materials needed to produce cable assemblies.
  • Selects cable of specified type, cuts to length, and attaches specified connectors or components to create cable assemblies.
  • Creates, checks, and attaches labels, adhesive, and shrink tubing to cable assemblies, shrinks labels/ adhesive & tie wrap cable assemblies where applicable.
  • Completes cable assemblies according to print specification.
  • Inspects and may be asked to perform continuity/shorts testing, phase matching / Tdr, testing on the Network Analyzer.
  • Completes and distributes all appropriate paperwork for document of job.
  • Support Company and Department goals

Equipment Used

Personal computer, copier, calculator, common hand tools and soldering equipment

Personal Protective Equipment

Safety glasses must be worn when you are in the plant. If you position requires you to lift spools of cable for any reason, safety shoes are required.

The performance of the duties of this job are in a climate-controlled light assembly environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge and Skills

  • One-year certificate from college or technical school desired.
  • Three to six months related experience and/or training.
  • Strong, professional English verbal & written communication skills are required
  • Must be able to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to respond quickly to changing priorities.
  • Demonstrated accuracy, consistency, and thoroughness.

Supervisory Requirements

This position has no supervisory or management responsibilities.

Personnel may be required to lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
